App.Net (3 One-Month free trials to give away)

I’m afraid all free trials have now been claimed.

AppNet

App.Net (or ADN) is a social media platform that was launched in August 2012, and despite the small user base (around 25,000 users at the time of writing this), I find it to be a very good platform. It’s similar to Twitter in a way of how you view the timeline and reply to users, but that is pretty much where the similarities end.

For a start you have to pay a fee to use it. $5 per month or $36 a year (£3.08 and £22.15 at the time of writing). “I’m not doing that!” You might think, however because App.Net is funded this way they vow to never sell your details on, never include adverts, and unlike Twitter who are trying to close their ecosystem, these guys will keep it open. You are also able to write more characters before you reach a post limit (140 on Twitter, compared to 256 on App.Net).

The other feature that I really like is that there is a “Global Stream”. Now this is stream does exactly what it says on the tin. It shows you the stream of every public message that has been created. The aim of this is mainly so you can jump in if you feel you have something to add to the discussion. The developers want to encourage a “conversation” and from my early impressions, I think they are on to something.

I didn’t get a free trial myself and forked out for the $36 for the yearly access. I do however have three one-month free trials. The free trial starts as soon as you’ve entered in a credit or debit card. Don’t worry about them charging you though, because if you find that App.Net isn’t to your liking then you can cancel during the free month, and you wont be charged a penny. Correction! A credit/debit card is NOT required for the trial.

If you’d like one of the free trials that I have to give, then just send me a tweet here telling me that you’d like one. The first three will get them.

Thank you.
